online degree often accepted when applying for RN?

phonetixs asked:

my plan is to enlist in the united states air force and get a BSN via online through the university of phoenix, i have heard that most hospitals and clinics only hire graduates from an actual university, rather then those that achieve a BSN through online (without LPN or LVN licensing, just straight going into university online with out prior experience as an LPN or LVN) would this plan hinder my chances of being hired at a hospital. or would it be my best bet, to graduate with a BSN, take the RN licensing test, then re-enlist (as an officer) to gain experience in the field (at least a solid year or two) before applying for a CRNA program (preferably online)….

Does online education really hindering hiring prospects, (compared to the competition of people graduating from direct university) ?

any advice, answers or assistance would REALLY be appreciative..

thanks for your time.
*after reading the first answer, i would try to achieve an associates of nursing at the air force community college, or maybe online (if thats possible) does the Associates really hinder your hiring prospects, or affect your salary or income?

I am thinking of attending graduate school online. Does anyone know how employers view people getting online degrees? Are online degrees looked at with the same credibility as a traditional school?

Working full time / graduate degree?

Joseph asked:

Ok, so here’s the deal. I am currently working full time in retail management, so I tend to work semi-irregular hours. I am married, own a home, and have a kid on the way. Sounds great, right? Well, it is.

However, I want to continue my education and pursue a Masters, or perhaps get my Juris Doctorate. I know that a lot (most?) graduate schools won’t let you work full time, if at all. Does anyone know of or have experience with any online (accredited only) schools and/or campuses that will?

We rely mainly on my income. My wife’s is important, but she does not make near what I do and we just couldn’t live off her salary alone, especially with a kid on the way. This is something that I REALLY want to do, but I’m concerned about how/if we could do it financially. Has anyone ever been in this situation before and what should I do? Wait? Night classes?

I have a BA, want 2nd-in Project Management online. Is it possible to transfer my old credits?

I’m looking into getting a second Bachelor’s degree, most likely via an online university. I graduated in ‘96 with a Major in Biology, minors in Chemistry and Anthropology. Since then I’ve gone through continuing education and other training programs for certificate programs and IT certification. Not that those transfer, but I have been academically active since 1996. Would I be able to transfer my Undergraduate credits to a new program so that I would not have to take courses that I don’t need or are extraneous to the program.

If so, which online schools would be the best?

I have VERY LITTLE information as is, so ANY info would be appreciated, even if its not a dierct answer to the questions I posed. Thanks!
I should add that the reason I ask about a BA is twofold – because I already hold a BA and it should be easier to qualify for and complete this program especially if I don’t need to take the GRE, and 2 because I want to do this online. I can imagine there are multiple business education requirements for a PM track in grad school. I have no formal business education training. Ok I have no business related education in my background. I’m a biologist that went into IT.

So far I have found:

Arizona State

Oregon State…

Both have downfalls. I was approved for $12500/year loan, but ASU is almost $20000/year.

OSU requires 180 credits to graduate? Most only require 120!
So far I have found Arizona State and Oregon State.

I would like to become a lobbyist. They make well over $30000.00.
